Novomatic Warms up for ICE 2023 with Special Conference

Executives Thomas Graf, Zane Mersich and Thomas Schmalzer were present to provide an account of the group’s current situation and future plans. Greentube CEO Graf began by conveying how the last two to three years have been challenging primarily due to the closure of physical operations. However, this changed in the last year with the reopening of such operations.
Novomatic now has access to more than 2,000 gaming operations around the world, including full-scale casinos, electronic casinos and sports betting venues. While the official financial figures of Novomatic for the year 2022 will be released in April, Graf mentioned that the group’s performance in the first half of the year showed a positive trend with revenue of €1.3bn ($1.39bn) and EBITDA reaching €371m as well as investments of over €100m. The trend, he added, continued in the second half of 2022.
The Greentube CEO also projected an outlook of growth for Novomatic in all regulated and soon-to-be-regulated markets including Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa and Asia. The significant acquisition of the Italian concessionaire HBG Group in November 2022 was highlighted as it has enabled the group to strengthen its market position. Additionally, Mersich elaborated on Novomatic’s operations in the UK and the Netherlands, emphasizing the consistent growth the company has achieved in these markets, thus displaying that arcades are far from obsolete. Lastly, the importance of responsible gaming was highlighted and the company expressed its plans to invest in this area.
Schmalzer, Novomatic’s Vice President of Global Sales, expressed his pride in the company’s return to ICE in 2023 after a break. He remarked that the company’s slogan for this year is ‘Black is back’, in reference to the redesign of their booth and the relaunch of their Black Edition II cabinet. He affirmed that Novomatic is now back at ICE in full force.
